BEFORE YOU LEASE AT
THE BOWIE APARTMENTS - AUSTIN, TX

Thinking about leasing at The Bowie Apartments in Austin? This page is a resident-led reality check: what to verify, what to ask in writing, and what you should know before signing a lease.

Amenities vs. Accessibility
- Ask about uptime: pool, gym, dog park, lounge, and other amenities may close for maintenance or building issues
- Confirm hours and ask for written notice requirements for closures
- Check amenity fees and whether they're refundable if access is restricted

Service Reliability
- Review recent history of water shutoffs, elevator outages, AC issues, and other service interruptions
- Ask management how they handle construction, repair, and/or emergency notices and how much advance warning residents typically get
- Inquire about backup plans such as courtesy suites, alternate amenity access, etc. during habitability disruptions

Floor Plans and Unit Features
- "In select homes" can mean a lot. Confirm in writing if you're expecting specific finishes, appliances, or features such as a terrace
- Test water pressure, appliances, AC, doors, etc. during tours
- Ask if the model unit reflects the exact finish package for your lease

Management and Maintenance
- Ask about average maintenance response times, including after-hours
- Speak with current residents if possible
- Join The Bowie Tenants Union

Lease and Fees
- Confirm all monthly fees (amenity, trash, etc.) and whether they're optional
- Ensure the lease does not include fees for cable TV, as this service has been terminated and is no longer provided
- Get all promises in writing before signing - verbal assurances aren't enforceable
